Award-Winning Resort Style Escape in Cameron Park

Jason Reading Landscapes proudly transformed an underutilised side yard in Cameron Park into a private, resort style escape, complete with stunning pool surrounds, an outdoor entertainment zone, and low maintenance landscaping.

This standout project was recognised at the 2025 Landscape Excellence Awards, taking out Silver in the Residential Construction category. Presented by The Landscape Association, the award highlights the craftsmanship, creative problem-solving, and attention to detail delivered by our design and construct team.

Client Goals

Our client was in the process of having a pool installed and wanted the surrounding area to feel like an inviting oasis, somewhere to relax, entertain, and escape without leaving home. With no clear vision for the underused side yard, she needed a complete design that could bring her dream to life while staying within budget.

Challenges and Innovations

Working within a tight, narrow space with limited access meant careful planning and the use of JRL’s specialist small scale machinery to transport materials and complete works efficiently. During construction, we also navigated periods of wet weather, protecting works and adapting our schedule to keep the project moving without compromising quality.

Following an onsite consultation to measure the space, explore design possibilities, and understand our client’s vision, our in-house design team created a formal landscape design plan. This allowed the client to visualise the space before construction began and make informed decisions early in the process.

Our final design and construction included:

• Poolside Modwood deck seamlessly connected to travertine pool surrounds, offering a stylish and durable finish.
• A second deck extending directly from the back of the home, perfect for outdoor dining and BBQs.
• Aluminium pergola to create a covered outdoor seating and entertainment area.
• Retaining walls with Alps dry stone cladding, designed to complement the overall aesthetic while sectioning the pool/entertainment area from the rest of the backyard.
• Steps linking levels for easy access between zones.
• Screening and glass pool fencing for safety and privacy without blocking views.
• Synthetic turf in the rear yard for a lush, low maintenance finish.
