Custom Designed Pool Surrounds Project in Louth Park

This striking poolside transformation, our Modern Poolscape in Louth Park, is a masterclass in balancing aesthetics, function, and precision. Designed and constructed by the Jason Reading Landscapes team, the project was awarded Silver in the Residential Construction category at the 2025 Landscape Excellence Awards, recognising its craftsmanship, creativity, and clean architectural finish.

The clients approached us with a strong design vision: to enhance their newly built pool area with visually engaging screening and sleek frameless glass fencing that would meet compliance requirements without compromising style. The final result is a private, sculptural space that feels more like a high-end resort than a suburban backyard.

Client Goals

With their pool already installed, our clients were looking to elevate the space with a combination of safety features and architectural screening that would double as a design statement. They requested abstract, modern lines, avoiding traditional patterns in favour of clean batten structures and laser-cut panels that would complement the home’s contemporary style.

The solution needed to create privacy and enclosure without feeling heavy or closed-in. Material quality and durability were also high priorities, given the poolside exposure and visibility from key entertaining areas within the home.

Challenges and Innovations

While site access was generally straightforward, the major challenge lay in building around an already completed pool and paved area, both of which were originally constructed by the Jason Reading Landscapes team as part of the broader landscaping works. This meant our crew was not only working within tight tolerances around finished surfaces, but also taking extra care to protect the quality craftsmanship already delivered during the earlier stages of the project.

Our team meticulously safeguarded all surfaces, including the pool shell, coping, and concrete paths, using barrier systems and ground coverings throughout the works. We also implemented a staged and highly coordinated installation process to ensure that all screening, posts, and fencing elements were placed with absolute precision, avoiding any disruption to existing features. Temporary fencing was also installed to maintain site safety during open access periods, especially important given the client’s dogs.

Our award-winning Modern Poolscape project in Louth Park involved a number of bespoke design and construction elements, all tailored to meet the client’s vision for a modern, layered pool enclosure. Key features included:

• 11.8LM of frameless glass pool fencing, 12mm toughened glass on stainless steel spigots
• 2x 850mm glass gates with soft-close hinges and lockable latches
• 11.21LM of aluminium batten privacy screening, constructed from 40x40mm battens
• 39x 65x65mm transitional aluminium posts to integrate glass and screening seamlessly
• 9x L-shaped 100x100mm aluminium posts with batten in-fills for sculptural effect
• 3x decorative Monstera laser-cut screens, powder-coated aluminium, 1.3m x 2.83m
• Full protection of all existing structures throughout construction
• Clean integration of new structural elements without disrupting drainage or services

Each element was installed with precision and care, from concrete footing preparation to final alignments. Our team ensured that finishes were flush, drainage was considered, and materials were low-maintenance yet visually striking, creating a pool zone that blends safety with sophistication.
