This Fletcher landscaping project was the final piece of the puzzle for our client’s new build, transforming a raw, sloped block into a safe, functional, and beautiful space for her young family (including two energetic dogs!). With a clear vision and the help of our in-house design and construct team, the result is a backyard that perfectly balances street appeal, practicality, and natural aesthetics.

Client Goals
Our client wanted a full landscape design and construction package to complete the outdoor areas of her newly built home. The space needed to be kid-friendly and pet-safe, with a flat usable area on the left-hand side and fencing to keep dogs secure.
She also envisioned soft boundary gardens, a natural look throughout the yard, and an inviting front landscape to boost curb appeal while blending seamlessly with the home’s style. With the driveway handled by the home builder, she was looking for support on everything else, from retaining walls to turfing and finishes.

Challenges and Forward Planning
As the site was completely new and sloped, our landscape design team began with a custom layout and 3D plan to help the client visualise the final result before any construction took place. This helped avoid costly changes later and gave our client peace of mind knowing the finished product would align with her goals.
One of the more complex elements of this project was the large boundary retaining wall, which required engineering, council approval, and drainage integration. We also worked through the late-summer heat, an often-overlooked challenge, by adjusting start times and ensuring regular breaks for the safety of our crew on site.
Tailored Solutions by Jason Reading Landscapes
After a detailed consultation and design process, our team completed a full scope of landscape works. Key features included:
- Engineered design and DA submission to council
- A 41m long Adbri Versa retaining wall up to 2.2m high, including stair access
- Concrete and paving throughout, including paths and garden steps
- Installation of Colorbond fencing, aluminium slat screens, and gates for privacy and security
- Drainage systems to manage water runoff effectively
- Sir Walter Buffalo turfing and synthetic turf options for low-maintenance greenery
- Custom garden beds, steel edging, and forest fine mulch
- Multiple cost variations managed transparently and professionally with full client approval

Throughout the process, we maintained clear communication, providing updated quotes for any cost variations. This ensured the client always had full visibility and control of their budget.
