Louth Park Pool Surrounds

The client’s brief for this landscaping project was to create an outdoor space for their family and future grandkids to enjoy and make memories in.

This project was a complete landscaping design and construction job split into two stages to allow all retaining walls and excavation to be completed before the pool installation. We then came back for stage 2 to finish the pool surrounds.

• Stage 1: included excavation works, garden edging and retaining walls, allowing the outdoor area to be tiered, creating a more usable space on their sloping block.
• Stage 2: included creating the pool area, consisting of pool paving, glass fencing, a cladded feature wall with a water feature, and planting.

Our estimator/designer, Flo, designed this project, which our team constructed on the ground. The pool was supplied and installed by Compass Pools.

One of the challenges this project posed was the large amount of retaining walls included in Stage 1 of the project. Due to our client’s yard being quite large and sloped, creating usable, tiered levels was essential to maintain the feel of an open space.

Having adequate drainage was another challenge. Water would often run into the neighbour’s yards due to the sloping block. We overcame the drainage issue by ensuring that drainage was a priority within the design phase of this project.

For the construction of the retaining walls and stairs we used large sandstone blocks from Gosford Quarries. For the drainage, strip drains, pvc pipes and joiners were supplied from Reece Plumbing.

Jason Reading Landscapes’ solution to meet the client brief was to design an area that was functional and aesthetic and kept the feel of a large open space.

Flo (our estimator and designer) created the area to have multiple terraced areas with sandstone stairs in between to allow for a more usable space that flows throughout the yard. JRL designed and constructed a modern pool area that matched the aesthetic of the client’s house, mainly using natural products.
